14U

The 14u age group can include any girls with birth dates after September 1, 2009. This includes the whole of 2011 and 2010 birth year players who are no longer eligible for 12u Softball.

CT Raiders offerings for the 14u age group could include any or all of the following:

  • 14u Premier

  • 14u Silver

  • 14u Black

14u Premier

14u Premier would target elite players who are looking for the most competitive 14u softball experience Regionally without having to travel long distances for their weekly practices and winter workouts. This team would target 1-2 National tournaments at the 14u level, and will also compete in 16u tournaments Regionally.

Regional competition will be primarily focused on travel to play in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania.

The program for 14u Premier would include 2-3 practices per week in the Fall plus 4-6 tournaments. The 14u Premier team is looking for the most serious of softball players in the area, particularly those girls for whom softball is their primary sport year-round.

In the Winter/Offseason, the team's regimen will include a minimum of 2 days of batting practice per week, weekly indoor pitching instruction, and weekly skills and conditioning training indoors. Because the 14u Premier team will be comprised of a mix of players from various grades, it will likely include many High School Freshman. As such, this team will *not* target any tournaments in the Spring during High School Softball season. The 14u Premier team will resume play in early June, targeting an additional 7 summer tournaments.

In the Spring, all 7th and 8th grade players who make the 14u Premier team will practice with our 14u Silver and Black players and be integrated onto those teams for tournament play during the High School season. This will ensure that all of these middle school-aged Premier players have a full softball schedule during this important period while their high school teammates are not eligible for club ball. We believe this is a crucial aspect of 14u softball, and our club is looking eliminate the stress on families of finding teams outside of our organization to guest-play for in the Spring. As such, no 14u players in our club will be forced to “sit out” during the Spring season.

14u Silver and Black Offerings

Based on tryouts and registration numbers, the 14u Silver and Black offerings would target experienced travel players who are either new to the 14u age bracket (rising 7th and 8th graders) or 14u-eligible High School aged players who are looking for a slightly less intense year-round and tournament schedule. We understand that many talented softball players also play other sports in different seasons (Fall/Winter) and can have very busy activity schedules year-round. As such, we wanted to tailor a softball program designed to accommodate those types of players who aren’t as dedicated as our Premier team players, but are still looking for a highly competitive softball experience.

Players offered slots on 14u Silver or Black teams would have 1-2 scheduled practices during the Fall season and would target 3-4 tournaments. Players on these teams will have more flexibility to pursue sports/activities during Fall and Winter seasons when Softball is not the primary sport. All 14u players will be offered winter workouts similar to what is described for the Premier program.

Silver and Black teams with non-high school aged players will compete in 2-3 Spring tournaments. For the summer, these teams will have a somewhat lighter schedule of 4-5 tournaments. Silver and Black teams will play primarily in Local and some Regional B and C 14u tournaments. Additionally, depending upon availability, Silver and Black teams may schedule local weekend or weekday “friendlies” against other clubs or town travel programs.
