2012 Premier
CT Raiders is building only one team for 12u-eligible players, and this will be our 2012 Premier offering. The 2012 Premier team is *not* intended to compete against town-based travel teams, C or B levels teams in the 12u age bracket. Instead, this team is targeting girls from a similar birth year who are ready to compete at the next level. This means the team will be eligible to play in 12u National tournaments, but will also be heavily focused on competing at the 14u level Regionally. We believe that offering elite players the opportunity to play-up to 14u is one of the best ways for them to improve their game.
Regional competition will be primarily focused on travel to play in Connecticut, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania.
All players on the roster will be from the 2012 birth year (or younger). This can also include players born September 1-December 31 2011 who will also be eligible.
Our 2012 Premier team will begin in the Fall 2024 season targeting 4-6 tournaments. In the Winter/Offseason, the team's regimen will include a minimum of 2 days of batting practice per week, weekly indoor pitching instruction, and weekly skills and conditioning training indoors. For Spring 2025, this team will largely target 14u tournaments Regionally, and the season will culminate in at least one trip to a 12u National tournament in the summer. The target for this team will be 4-6 Spring tournaments (April-May) and 5-7 Summer tournaments (June-July).
In addition, we anticipate a healthy roster of talented 14u players across multiple 14u teams in our program next season. As such, we will offer some of our 2012 Premier players the ability to dual-roster with older players (8th/9th graders), as well as the ability to use some of our 14u-eligible players to supplement our 2012 Premier team at 14u tournaments. We have historically found that being able to use 1-2 older players to supplement a younger team "playing-up" in an older age group tournament has been tremendously helpful for the younger players to gain this valuable experience while also having confidence and being highly competitive.
The ultimate goal for this 2012 Premier team will be to keep a core group of similar birth year players playing together through High School, eventually forming a 16u Showcase team for those girls looking to explore the option of being recruited to play Softball in College.
